Facts About Knowledge Base Layouts

a) Core KB Layouts

  • Basic Layout – This is a typical knowledge base layout, listing categories in rows and columns.
  • Tabs Layout – This layout has additional top-level categories listed in tabs at the top of KB. Each tab displays a list of categories. This is useful e.g. when you need to separate articles into different groups (tabs) based on different services or products supported.
    • Note: Articles in this layout cannot be assigned to the top category since the top category only contains sub-categories. Assign articles to any sub-categories.

 

b) Elegant Layouts Add-On

  • Basic Layout with Sidebar Layout – This is a typical knowledge base layout, listing categories in rows and columns.
  • Tabs Layout with Sidebar Layout – This layout has additional top-level categories listed in tabs at the top of KB. Each tab displays a list of categories. This is useful e.g. when you need to separate articles into different groups (tabs) based on different services or products supported.
  • Grid Layout – shows left sidebar that lists categories, sub-categories and articles.
  • Sidebar Layout – displays top level categories in rows and columns with an optional icon and a link to corresponding documentation.
